Story/Lore

In the middle of winter, when the snow reached up to your hands and the world looked like it was covered in the fur of an ice dragon, a young wolf was born. On January 15th—although for a moment there was fear that he would jump out of his den in December. Even then, he had that spark of curiosity that never faded.

Even before he learned to speak properly, he already wanted to know how the world worked. That's why, as a two-year-old, he decided to... stick cables into a power outlet. The bang that followed reportedly scared a flock of kiwis in New Zealand — although that may be a bit far-fetched. Fortunately, the young wolf came out of it safe and sound, with new knowledge: “Don't touch that.”

Despite this incident, his fears did not develop into real phobias. Although the wolf cub was silent for a long time — three years of silence is a long time, even for quadrupeds. His mother was beginning to worry that he might never make a sound. Until finally, he spoke... and then it was impossible to silence him. He even ended up at a speech therapist, because as is often the case with young children, his tongue couldn't always keep up with his thoughts. But the classes were quite enjoyable.

Kindergarten was his first test of loneliness. Being separated from his parents hurt, but over time, interesting things began to happen: English lessons with his dad's friend, speech therapy sessions, and even religion classes with a teacher who strummed cool tunes on the guitar. Things like that stay in your memory for a long time.

Wilczek was always curious — whether he was in kindergarten, elementary school, or technical school. But one thing was certain: even before he shed the fur of childhood, he fell in love with computer science. When other young people talked about becoming firefighters or police officers, he already knew — he would be a computer scientist. And so it remained.

In elementary school, he didn't have many friends during the first three grades. He stuck with those he knew from previous years, but he was a bit like a lone wolf in a pack. No one particularly bullied him, but no one was particularly fond of him either. Maybe he was a little different. Maybe he was a little fuzzier than the rest. But being “fat” is no reason to dislike someone, and those who think otherwise can be calmly bid farewell: Auf Wiedersehen.

In fourth grade, something changed. He befriended one ram — literally, because they had been at each other's throats before, but then something clicked (in a friendly way). Unfortunately, the friendship did not last forever. This jerk turned out to be toxic — he was looking for partners by force, insulting others, running away as soon as something did not go his way. A typical “lonely speed demon” who watched too much Initial D and confused relationships with racing.

Wolfy was different. He fell in love twice in elementary school. Once with a girl in fourth grade — they even “dated” for a while, but it quickly fell apart. The second time with a girl — this time the feeling was one-sided. That's how love was for young furries — intense but fleeting.

But his adventure with computer science was already blossoming at that time. In second grade, he became the class “hacker” when he restored the password to a student's account after someone changed it. The teachers were shocked. And from then on, he was given the tag: Computer Scientist.

There were also comical moments: in fourth grade, computer science was taught by a German teacher who gave tests using Paint... on paper. In fifth grade, even though there was a real computer science teacher, things didn't get any better — she yelled at his friend for using GIMP, saying that he should learn Paint first. But the young wolf did not give up. In eighth grade, an enthusiast took over IT class — a true master of his craft. He saw potential in the young wolf. It was then that the young wolf decided to create a program to make it easier for older people to use computers. The project did not survive, but the learning experience was enormous.

The eighth-grade exams came. He passed Polish and English with flying colors. In math, he was a whiz. Thanks to this, he got into a technical school specializing in computer science — maybe not his first choice, but the school he had dreamed of.

At the beginning of technical school, he had an easier time thanks to a friend who went with him. He quickly became part of the new group, became the class president, joined the student council, and even the Youth City Council. He finished his third year with a smile and satisfaction. He doesn't regret a single decision.

He is currently trying to get his driver's license. He has a bunch of cool friends, and maybe even a sweetheart on the horizon... Who knows? He has already been through a lot for one wolf, but the best adventures — the ones that really make legends — are still ahead of him.

And who knows? Maybe one day he'll write the rest of this story. For now, it's just one chapter in the life of a young, ambitious wolf with a head full of code and a heart open to the world.
